I question the biology of a protogen. Are they part machine part flesh or are they all synthetic. Or secret third option they are secretly bugs that formed a hard outer shell similar in look to metal???
So this is from the official Protogen Species Information & Design Guidelines. Apparently they're lab-grown and 40% artificial; their purpose is to explore space. Notably, their have a "fully functional digestive tract, natural organs, skeletal and vascular system", which probably includes genitals. And apparently the 'borg parts are made of flexible nanites and their limbs and tails are "plug and play". The more you know
Question if they are lab grown why do they have reproductive organs? Are they for show or is this a genetic mistake? Truth be told I love learning about all kinds of living organisms including fictional ones
id place bets that since they'r likely to just "be" they're meant to be artistic expression of aspects of oneself (Stando Powa). they are whatever the artist needs them to be. you'd get a more concrete answer from a furry artist themself I reckon.
