If the past can't be changed, then what does "forgiveness" actually do? It doesn't undo the hurt. It doesn't erase what happened. So when someone forgives you, they are really just deciding to stop holding it against you. That makes sense between two people.
But with yourself, it gets weird.
The "you" who did the bad thing and the "you" who wants forgiveness are the same person. You can't escape yourself. So when you say, "I forgive me," what are you even saying? Are you saying, "That wasn't really me"? But it was. Or are you saying, "It was me, but I'm letting it go"? But how can you let go of something you did? You are the one who remembers it.

Just because life doesn't come with meaning doesn't mean it can't have meaning. It's not that nothing matters, it's that you get to decide what does. That's the scary part, but also the good part.
If nothing matters in a big, universal sense, then the small things matter more, not less. The cup of coffee. The person you were kind to today. The apology you gave or received. Those aren't meaningless, they're all the meaning there is.
So yeah, life doesn't matter from above. But from the inside? It matters because we are here, living it. And that might be the best part.
